How to Apply as an Incoming Freshman Student
- Complete an undergraduate application online or download a pdf version.
- Attach the non-refundable $30 application fee (check or money order payable to Wayne State University) or $50 application fee for international students. (For specific information on international students, please choose International students from the menu on the left.) Please include your Social Security number. We do not accept cash.
- If you are a current high school student, you should give the completed application, with fee attached, to the high school counselor for his or her signature. You may mail it, along with a copy of your high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores, to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Tell your high school to send Wayne State a transcript after your final grades are posted.
- If you have already graduated, please submit the application and contact your high school to have your transcript sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Wayne State University, PO Box 02759, Detroit, MI 48202
- Music and dance majors require auditions. See the individual department site for further information.
- Please allow 4 to 6 weeks to process your application.

Undergraduate domestic students:
Aug. 1 - Fall semester (September - December)
Dec. 1 - Winter semester (January - April)
April 1 - Spring/Summer semesters (May - August)
International Undergraduate Students:
May 1 - Fall semester (September - December)
Sept. 1 - Winter semester (January - April)
Jan. 2 - Spring/Summer semesters (May - August)
To be considered for resident status for tuition assessment purposes, you must have resided in Michigan for six continuous months as of the first day of classes. For a detailed explanation of the residency requirements, refer to the residency section in the WSU Bulletin.
